After a franchise-altering night, Sam Presti will address the media before the Oklahoma City Thunder — presumably — take their first steps without Jalen Williams for the foreseeable future.
With 1:14 left to go in regulation in an eventual win over the LA Clippers, Williams sustained a gruesome-looking leg injury. Driving to the basket, Kris Dunn collided with him mid-air. That threw him off his trajectory as he badly landed on his left leg that snapped backward. His ankle faced the wrong direction.
Eventually, Williams needed to be helped on a stretcher. He was carted off the floor. The Thunder were in severe shock. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander wept tears. Mark Daigneault was very blunt about the emotional and raw reactions. And the OKC crowd was stunned
silent before offering emotional support by cheering him on.
This completely flips the board on its head. If Williams is out for the rest of the year, then the Thunder go from the top title contender to just another team. Let's see what the official wording is, but you have to feel sympathy for a guy who simply can't stay healthy these last couple of years.
