With less than two months to go until the Oklahoma City Thunder travel on 2026-27 Opening Night, the NBA uniform world might've figured out what one of their jerseys will be for the upcoming nine-month-long season campaign.
The Thunder will bring back the 2023-24 City Edition uniform, per social media user 'NBA Uniform Tracker.' The account spent all of Saturday revealing all 30 teams' alternate uniforms. On the upcoming 10th anniversary of Nike's City Edition idea, teams across the league are resurrecting old favorites.
We'll see if the 2023-24 City Edition uniform is the one the Thunder end up going with. Most fans hypothesized that it would've been the fan-favorite 2018-19 ones — which were the turquoise-colored ones that honored Oklahoma's
Native American Heritage. They were worn during the final year that Russell Westbrook and Paul George were in OKC.
But back to the 2023-24 City Edition uniforms. As a reminder, the Thunder designed the dark blue and bright orange jersey with OKC's evolving landscape in mind. That was also the year when the Thunder surprised the rest of the NBA and clinched the first seed before eventually falling to the Dallas Mavericks in Round 2 of the NBA playoffs.
As usual, expect the Thunder to wear the City Edition uniform a handful of times throughout the 2026-27 regular season. It's usually accompanied by an alternate court design. If I had to guess, both of OKC's home games during the 2026 NBA Cup are when it'll make its re-debut. They will host the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, Nov. 20 and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, Nov. 25.
The Thunder will enter the 2026-27 season as a co-title favorite — alongside the San Antonio Spurs. Even after their cost-cutting moves, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams should be enough to stay in the title picture for the foreseeable future.
