If you were one of the people who believed New England Patriots tight end Eli Raridon was going to score the first touchdown of the NFL season, congratulations.
The third-round pick out of Notre Dame caught a two-yard pass from Drake Maye in the second quarter on Wednesday to give the Patriots the lead over the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
New England added the PAT and was up 7-0.
The TD was set up by a pass interference on Seattle when Maye tried to find A.J. Brown off a flea-flicker.
Raridon might have been an unlikely target. He caught all of 58 passes in four years at Notre Dame, three for touchdowns.
His best season was last year when he grabbed 32 passes for 482 yards but failed to find the end zone.
Seattle, meawhile, was missing Sam
Darnold. The quarterback suffered an injured hip on the fifth play of the game.
Drew Lock replaced Darnold, who was described as questionable to return.
