The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music is all about paying tribute to the legends.
Over the weekend, there was a symposium to honor the late great Chuck Berry, who would have turned 100 on Oct. 18.
Berry is one of the icons and founders of rock 'n' roll. Stevie Van Zandt paid tribute to the guitar great saying, Little Richard “embodied the spirit of liberation that would be infused throughout the entire art form (of rock ‘n’ roll). And Elvis Presley “popularized it for the white people,” Van Zandt continued, with a laugh. “But Chuck Berry was the indisputable king of rock ‘n’ roll.”
The event concluded with a concert that celebrated some of the best of Berry's legendary catalogue.
