It is early. However, there is a candidate for worst NFL matchup of the year. And it is on the schedule for Week 5.
The Houston Texans, who made it to the division round after and 0-3 start in 2025, have gone one better -- or worse? --- in 2026.
The Texans have a Week 5 date in Tennessee with the Titans, who also come into the game 0-4.
The Titans started last season 0-4, reaching that mark by losing to the Houston Texans in Week 4.
Robert Saleh stepped into a tough spot in Tennessee. However, he is having the same journey he did as New York Jets coach. Plenty of losses, not much hope.
Don't blame the Titans' defense. It has allowed 83 points. The team has managed a grand total of 55 points.
Houston, meanwhile, has scored 84 points, an average of
21 ppg, and allowed 109 points. The cruel irony here is the Texans came into the season regarded as having one of the best defenses in the NFL.
After its 0-3 start, Houston wound up finishing the season on a nine-game winning streak to make the playoffs. Coach DeMeco Ryans has to hope a game with the Titans is the tonic to get his Texans right.
In case anyone is wondering, the rematch would be in Week 18 at Houston.
