I think we are officially living through the craziest period in college football history. In this crazy time of NIL, transfer portal rules, and legal battles over player eligibility, the Big Ten Conference is rumored to make their stand when it comes to one of the hottest issues in the sport today, which is the phenomenon of players actually choosing to leave NFL rosters to go back and play college football. According to a report from Pete Thamel of ESPN, the Big Ten is set to enact a rule that will prevent that from happening in the conference.
The news comes in the wake of LSU adding Dae'Quan Wright from the Cleveland Browns and Zxavian Harris of the New Orleans Saints, to come and play for new head coach Lane Kiffin in Baton Rouge.
It will
be extremely interesting to see how other conferences react to the news. It could leave the Big Ten behind if other conferences start to open the floodgates on letting pro-level players come back to play college football, but I applaud the Big Ten on taking a stance in a situation that has become increasingly confusing and chaotic.
