Michigan State basketball is one of only five schools in the running for a big-time center prospect in the 2027 class.
Kamsi Awaka of Cheshire, Conn. is reportedly down to five schools: Michigan State, Michigan, Florida, Arizona and UConn. According to Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports, Awaka narrowed his list on Thursday, with the Spartans still in the mix.
Awaka is a high-end four-star center prospect, with a recruiting rating of 97.66 in 247Sports' composite system. He ranks as the No. 8 center and No. 52 overall prospect in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports.Michigan State joined the mix for Awaka in the last week. The Spartans offered him on Tuesday, and now are squarely listed as a finalist. It'll be interesting to see if they can jump to the top
of his list quickly, with Arizona, Florida and UConn previously being considered the favorites for his commitment.
