A former Spartans hockey defenseman will be attending the Washington Capitals rookie camp this year.
Former Michigan State hockey defenseman David Gucciardi is one of a few that were invited to the Capitals' rookie camp. In total, 19 players were invited to the Washington Capitals rookie camp, with Gucciardi landing as one of the seven defensemen included.
Gucciardi appeared in 139 games for the Spartans over four seasons. He finished his career with career 17 goals and 28 assists.
Since turning pro, Gucciardi has appeared in 54 games for the Hersey Bears of the American Hockey League. He has recorded four goals and 11 assists across those 54 appearances with the Bears.
