It's officially rivalry week. While it hasn't been the best year for either team, as always, there will be a ton of attention on Saturday night's match-up between Michigan and Michigan State football. The two programs have one of the most storied and antagonistic rivalries in college sports. Both teams, of course, have new coaches in place this year, and while Pat Fitzgerald has a lot of knowledge about the game from his history in the Big Ten, it seems like Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham is still getting up to speed, although he was still happy to make some condescending remarks towards MSU in his Monday media session.
When asked about the game, Whittingham referred to it as Michigan State's "Super Bowl". This comes a few days after Whittingham said
MSU wasn't Michigan's 'biggest' rivalry. While he was a little flippant about the game, he did note that he will be bringing in some former players to talk about the game and its importance to the program.
"This game is the Super Bowl, particularly for them, in my opinion," Whittingham said.
