Michigan State basketball has lofty goals for this upcoming season, and one national writer believes they'll meet those expectations.
The college basketball season is less than a week away, with exhibition action behind us and the regular season opener coming up on Monday. Michigan State -- who is No. 6 in the preseason polls -- will open the season on November 2 against Quinnipiac.
With huge expectations for the Spartans this season, it should come as no surprise that at least one national writer has them reaching the Final Four. ESPN's Jeff Borzello was part of a crew of writers who posted their preseason picks for the Final Four, and he was the lone one from ESPN to have Michigan State reaching the Final Four. He didn't, though, have them winning
it all.
Michigan State last reached the Final Four in 2019, which is the longest drought of Tom Izzo's career. The Spartans have came close the last two seasons with appearances in the Elite Eight and Sweet 16, but many are hoping this could be the year they break through and get back to college basketball's biggest stage.
