Contract details for Michigan State's new athletic director has been reported, showing Dan Bartholomae plans on being with the Spartans for a long time.
ESPN insider Pete Thamel reported on Wednesday afternoon that Bartholomae has signed as five-year deal to become the next Michigan State athletic director. Per Thamel, his deal is worth $1.71 million per year.
Michigan State announced the hiring of Bartholomae earlier this week, with him being introduced as the new athletic director during a press conference on Wednesday. He previously served the same role at Western Michigan, and will be replacing J Batt who left to become the next Kentucky athletic director earlier this summer.
Bartholomae took over as the Western Michigan athletic director in
January of 2022, and has experienced a large amount of success in his four-plus years with the school. In the last two seasons, Western Michigan won a national championship in hockey and the Mid-American Conference championship in football. According to Thamel, Bartholomae has also led Western Michigan to "record-breaking" fundraising during his time with the Broncos.
