Michigan State football dropped their second game in a row, and the first game of the Big Ten season on Saturday evening. The Spartans fell to the Cornhuskers, 31-13, and now sit at 2-2 on the season.
In the game, it was a poor offensive performance by the Spartans. The team only gained 257 yards in the game, while giving up six sacks and turning the ball over three times. Ultimately, the job was not done well, and the Spartans need to be better going forward.
After looking at the film, and evaluating the game, Pro Football Focus (Subscription Required) gave out their grades for the Spartans in the game.
Check out the top five offensive players for the Spartans, according to PFF:
C Trent Fraley - 78.8
The leader of the Michigan State offensive line also served as the leader for
Michigan State in this PFF grades offensively. The Spartans center had strong grades run blocking (75.8) and pass blocking (73.9).
TE Kai Rios - 74.9
Reserve tight end Kai Rios made his case to get more playing time, getting in the action both blocking and catching the ball. He finished with a catch for 16 yards.
TE Brennan Parachek - 72.5
Another strong tight end performance, Parachek's grade overcomes a poor block that led to a sack. He finished with three catches for 40 yards in the game.
G Nick Sharpe - 68.8
Spartans offensive guard Nick Sharpe had a strong performance both run blocking (67.6) and pass blocking (74.6). He is a senior that needs to continue to improve this season for MSU offensive success.
LT Ben Murawski - 66.9
A staple on these lists, Murawski was a strong player for the Spartans on Saturday evening. He finished with a run blocking grade of 58.4, but a pass blocking grade of 80.7.
