A former Michigan State Spartans point guard is officially in the transfer portal and exploring options for a fifth year of college basketball.
Joe Tipton of On3 reported on Saturday that former Spartan Tre Holloman is in the transfer portal with plans of playing another year of hoops at the college level. Holloman is one of many players in the class of 2022 that were granted a fifth year of eligibility recently due to the injunction in Colorado.
According to Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows, Holloman originally entered the transfer portal in the spring when it was open in preparation for a possible fifth year of eligibility being granted. So there shouldn't be any issue, in theory, with Holloman finding a new school for next season.

Holloman played his first three years of his collegiate career with the Spartans before transferring to NC State for this past season. He appeared in 106 games during his three years with the Spartans. He averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 assists per game during his final season in 2024-25.
In his lone season with NC State, Holloman appeared in 32 games (27 starts). He ended the season averaging 9.2 points and 2.1 assists per game with the Wolfpack.
While Holloman is now available to return to Michigan State to complete his college career, it is unlikely that'll be the final destination. Spartans head coach Tom Izzo recently said his roster for the upcoming season is finalized and he has no intentions of adding any players via the injunction. Things could, of course, change, but I would anticipate Holloman playing elsewhere this upcoming season.
