Michigan State basketball officially returns on Monday night.
The Spartans will open the 2026-27 season on Monday in a home non-conference game against Quinnipiac. This will be the first regular season game for both the Spartans and Bobcats.
Michigan State enters this season with extremely high expectations, ranked in the top 10 in both the media and coaches preseason polls. The Spartans were shaky, though, in their exhibition play -- losing back-to-back exhibitions against UConn and Marquette.
Quinnipiac is looking to build off recent success, with the Bobcats finishing above .500 in each of their last four seasons. Quinnipiac was picked to finish sixth out of 13 teams in the Metro League preseason poll.
