Michigan State football is gearing up for the first season of the Pat Fitzgerald era in East Lansing when they take on Toledo this Friday night. The 2026 season is going to be imperative for the Spartans to build a foundation under Fitzgerald, and have something solid to continue moving the program forward.
After four straight years where the Spartans have failed to make a bowl game, expectations are low, but the need to get to six wins couldn't be more imperative. If the Spartans are going to hit that mark, the veteran leadership on this roster is going to need to step up this season.
