Paul Bunyan is heading back to East Lansing after Michigan State football earned a massive rivalry win over Michigan on Saturday night in Ann Arbor. The 15-6 victory for the Spartans
was done in dominating fashion from the opening kick, to the final whistle. A program win for Pat Fitzgerald, this is the type of game that can turn a season around, and could propel new life for Michigan State in 2026.The win for the Spartans was the first in the rivalry since 2021, snapping a four-game Wolverine win streak. With the loss, Michigan fans are not taking it well, with frustrations over first year head coach Kyle Whittingham, and now losing to a 2-6 Michigan State team, there is a lot of resentment coming from Ann Arbor.
Check out the Michigan fanbase's
reactions to the loss to Michigan State:
Fire Kyle Whittingham. Fire Jason Beck. This is the lowest most embarrassing Michigan Football has been in my lifetime. What an absolute joke of a football team #Goblue pic.twitter.com/3GffHFVfA2

Michigan has to fire everybody. This is a historic failure.

Michigan lost to Michigan State without giving up a single Touchdown in a week where its head coach said he “is interested in being a part of the rivalry,” which he claimed “isn’t the biggest rivalry,” but “heard it’s intense,” and said “it’s ‘their’ Super Bowl.”

Sparty was missing 18 players.

13 were starters.
They lost 6 straight.
Hadn’t won a Big 10 game.
And, Michigan just lost Paul Bunyan to them.
At home!
Maybe the most embarrassing UM loss ever?
Even Brady Hoke and Rich Rodriguez are laughing at Kyle Whittingham.
Pathetic.

There were a lot of candidates for "worst moment of the season" heading into tonight. I appreciate the Michigan football team doing everyone a solid and giving us all a lot of clarity on that front.

I’ll say this, we got WAY too much talent on this roster to get these types of results. https://t.co/qx0J1kKSIJ
That was the single worst Michigan football game I've ever seen.

One of the worst Michigan performances of all time.

This is the most pathetic offensive display I’ve ever seen by a Michigan football team.

Kyle Whittingham wearing a headset but always having the microphone sticking straight up in the air isn't any different than Brady Hoke not wearing a headset.

The fact nobody is fired yet is such a disgrace @UMichAthletics

Kyle Whittingham has set Michigan football back 10 years. And he is talking about the recruiting class and portal ??? Bro not only are we gonna lose half the team when the season ends. We are gonna lose the recruiting class and no one worth a damn is coming here in the…

Michigan MSU starts with something beyond Xs and Os. It’s about passion, desperation, emotion, will power. All of that is then amplified by gameplan, ability to focus and execute with all of the emotion, and ability to finish. It’s a 60 minute fight.
