Michigan State football fans who also cheer on the Detroit Lions in the NFL got some awesome news on Labor Day. After failing to make the initial 53-man roster, the Detroit Lions are moving forward with signing former MSU star linebacker Joe Bachie to a contract to join the full 53-man active roster.
Quite frankly, it was a little surprising that Bachie was cut in the first place, since Lions' head coach Dan Campbell was raving about him all training camp. However, that's just how competitive things are at that level, where a player can consistently stand out and still find himself on the fringes of making the team.
Bachie, who was an All-Big Ten linebacker three times during his tenure with the Spartans, has made a nice pro career for himself
after going undrafted in 2020, spending time with the Saints, Eagles, Bengals, Titans, Colts, and now the Lions. He's expected to play a lot of special teams and provide depth at linebacker.
