After missing Michigan State basketball's first preseason exhibition against Incarnate Word with a sprained ankle, Michigan State big man Cam Ward is reportedly set to play in the team's exhibition against UConn on Tuesday night. The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
It's a big update for the Spartans, as Cam Ward was originally projected to be the starting power forward for this team. However, redshirt sophomore Jesse McCulloch could make that a difficult move for Tom Izzo after his offensive explosion in the first exhibition game against Incarnate Word.
Either way, Ward is expected to have a big role for the Spartans with his ability to play both power forward and center.
Michigan State's Cam Ward (ankle) will be available
for tonight's exhibition game against UConn, per a school spokesman. DNP in the Spartans' first exhibition game vs. Incarnate Word. Averaged 5.1 PPG and 4.2 RPG last season.
