Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies added their first high school commitment in the 2027 class on Tuesday morning: local four-star guard Jimmie Haywood.
The 6-foot-3 product of Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, who is from the Seattle area and also played at Garfield High School, is ranked as the No. 131 overall prospect and No. 15 shooting guard in the class by 247Sports, and chose the Huskies over Loyola Marymount and Nevada.
During his first year at the Arizona prep school, Haywood averaged 6.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, and is expected to take a big step forward during his senior season after a strong offseason playing with Seattle Rotary in AAU.

Haywood also brings the local ties that have been largely missing from Washington's roster, as his father, who goes by the same name and also played at Garfield, made 104 appearances at Oregon State, where he averaged 8.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
After the Huskies added just one high school pledge in the 2026 class, three-star wing Lattimore Ford, earning a pledge from Haywood is a promising sign for Sprinkle as he looks to add sustainable
