Five games into his rookie season, former Washington Huskies star wide receiver Denzel Boston is doing something historic with the Cleveland Browns.
The second-round pick in April's draft currently leads the NFL in yards per reception, averaging 20.6 per catch, the highest mark by any rookie through their first five games since Randy Moss averaged 21 YPC over his first five career appearances in 1998.
As Boston also leads all rookies in receiving yards (330) and touchdowns (3) on just 16 catches, he's quickly become one of the early favorites for Offensive Rookie of the Year even though he was the seventh receiver taken off the board in the 2026 draft. However, it's not on the front of the 6-foot-4 pass catcher's mind.

"Definitely in the back of any rookie's mind, I think that's a big thing is to try to win a Rookie of the Year award," Boston told the media on Thursday. "But that's not my main focus. My main focus is trying to bring wins to this team and do whatever I can to contribute to bring wins to this team and this program. So, it's cool; it's definitely a cool thing, but my main focus is in this building with my guys trying to get wins together."
With the Browns sitting at 3-2 and tied for second place in the AFC North, Boston has been a key cog in igniting Cleveland's offense early in the season behind quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Leading up to the Browns' Week 6 matchup with a divisional rival, the Baltimore Ravens, Boston has been limited in practice throughout the week with a foot injury, but was not listed on Friday's injury report and is expected to suit up.
