In his final season of eligibility, Washington Huskies punter Hunter Green has been as advertised since he arrived out of the transfer portal from San Diego State.
The local product of Lake Washington High School was nothing short of stellar in the Huskies' 25-21 loss to the USC Trojans on Saturday, as he was called on six times and responded with a total of 310 yards, which is good for an average of 51.7 yards per punt in the 98-degree heat of Los Angeles, California.
That was more than enough to earn him recognition on the Ray Guy Award's "Ray's 8," which put him in the running for the award's Punter of the Week honors.

Three of Green's six punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, including two at the 1-yard line, the first of which was muffed by USC returner Terrell Anderson and nearly recovered by cornerback Dylan Robinson, much to the delight of Jedd Fisch.
"I thought special teams was elite in this game," Fisch said on Monday. "There was an opportunity for Dylan Robinson to recover one of them, which obviously would've been a game-changing-type play...Great punting by Hunter."
"I believe that his ability to flip the field has been exceptionally good...What he's been able to do, though, is he's been able to give such a long field back to the other team. We talked about all week the biggest thing against SC was we wanted to make them go the long way, and I thought that Hunter has done a tremendous job in helping us do that, as well as our cover units. When you kick it with that type of hangtime, it allows our guys to get down there, but the guys have made some great tackles as well."
