For the first time in program history, coach Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies have reportedly hired a general manager.
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, the Huskies are set to hire former New York Knicks scout and Syracuse general manager Alex Kline for the role after spending two years in the same position with the Orange before he was let go in March 2026.
Kline graduated from Syracuse in 2016 with a degree in broadcast and digital journalism and a minor in sports management, and has been involved in the scouting world long before he was hired by the Knicks in 2020. In 2010, he founded The Recruit Scoop, a website dedicated to high school basketball recruiting, and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in both 2013 and 2014.

As Sprinkle enters his third season with the Huskies, some additional help on the player personnel/talent acquisition front could be very beneficial to the coaching staff, especially given the turnover that the head coach has experienced over each of his first two full offseasons at the helm.
The Huskies are 29-35 overall across Sprinkle's first two years, and ahead of his third season, Washington has prioritized international talent, adding forward Wini Braga from Brazil, guard Tristan Devers from Australia, and Boris Tisma from Croatia, while retaining Serbian forward Nikola Dzepina and French center Mady Traore in an effort led by associate head coach Andy Hill.
Adding Kline will not only aid in those efforts, but he gives the Huskies an experienced option to head up high school scouting operations too, as Sprinkle looks to add sustainable, high-end talent from the prep ranks.
