When the Washington Huskies released their depth chart on Tuesday ahead of their Big Ten opener against Minnesota, the biggest change was the first inclusion of center Landen Hatchett, who was listed as a potential starter at the position alongside Kolt Dieterich.
Hatchett has spent the offseason recovering from a broken scaphoid bone in his wrist that he suffered in Washington's late October win over Illinois in 2025. While the process has been slow, as the Huskies have pushed back his recovery timeline several times, his inclusion on the depth chart is a promising sign that the fourth-year is close to a return for a unit that could use his experience along the interior, with UW currently ranking No. 15 in the Big Ten in rushing offense, averaging
just 129.6 yards per game.
However, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff hasn't committed to Hatchett's return just yet.

“I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to give it a try this week in practice, so we’ll see,” Fisch said on Monday. “I think Kolt has done a better job this past week than the week before. He’ll continue to get better, and then we’ll see what it looks like.”
"It's up to the doctors in terms of officially being cleared," offensive line coach Michael Switzer added on Tuesday. "That's really the thing that's in play here, so he's on a contact progression, and he's going through some limited practices, and we'll continue to see what it looks like from a medical point of view."
Switzer added that as of Tuesday, Hatchett has not been cleared by the medical staff. The fourth-year told the media during fall camp that he feels it won't take long to return to game shape once cleared because of the training regimen that Washington's strength and conditioning staff has put him on throughout the offseason.
