Two days after former Washington Huskies star cornerback Marcus Peters won his first game as McClymonds High School, he was on hand Sunday to see his alma mater beat Washington State 24-10 in the 118th Apple Cup.
Peters, a four-time All-Pro selection and eight-year NFL veteran, led his prep alma mater to a 48-0 victory over Redwood Christian in his second game as McClymonds' coach, having taken over for his father, Michael Peters, after being a volunteer assistant coach at the Oakland, California, high school the past two years.
The ex-Husky defensive back made 34 appearances in four seasons for the then-Pac-12 program from 2012-14, ending his tenure on Montlake with 129 total tackles, 11 interceptions, 9.5 tackles and a sack for Steve Sarkisian
and Chris Petersen. Peters went on to be selected with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Peters has returned to UW a handful of times since Jedd Fisch was hired in January 2024 as the 31st coach in school history, with the former Arizona Wildcats coach promoting the pro element to his college program.

In his head coaching debut for McClymonds, his Warriors fell 50-0 to Mililani (Hawaii) led by, coincidentally, 2028 four-star quarterback Hunter Fujikawa, who made an unofficial visit to Husky Stadium on Sunday and is among Washington's top targets at the position.
Although the start wasn't great, Peters—who led McClymonds to its first-ever perfect season as a senior in 2010 as he helped lead the Warriors to a 12-0 record capped off with a 51-yard end-around and an interception to secure an Oakland Section title with a Silver Bowl win over Fremont—responded with a 50-burger of his own a week later and now has another strong test at unbeaten (2-0) Jefferson High School.
During Peters' father's 13 seasons as McClymonds' head coach and 33 total seasons on the coaching staff, Michael won five state titles and ended his head coaching career with a 142-24 overall record.
