Coach Tina Langley and the Washington Huskies have one of the most promising groups of returners to build around heading into the 2026-27 season, and one of its key pieces is Brynn McGaughy.
During her first year on Montlake, the former five-star recruit and local product of Colfax, Washington, was a unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten Freshman team after posting 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1 block per game during her first year while shooting 48.8 percent from the field.
Now, heading into her sophomore season, Langley is looking to rely on the 6-foot-3 forward in an expanded role.

"I thought Brynn really walked
in and studied the game," Langley told Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds at Big Ten Media Days. "I think that's what's probably one of the hardest things about being a freshman is how fast the game moves and how strong everyone is. So she had to work on the strength component for the entire season, and you saw that."
"Even over the summer, you continue to see her transform and get in elite shape, and her strength is awesome, and then the IQ of the game continues to evolve and continues to improve, but Brynn is a multiple-position player, and last year she only played the five for us, so this summer you've been able to see her on the perimeter more, bringing the ball up in transition, just making plays for us, and she's done an incredible job."
With guards Sayvia Sellers and Avery Howell returning in the backcourt, plus the addition of center Tilda Trygger from North Carolina State, McGaughy will have plenty of help around her to space the floor as the Huskies to make a deeper run in the NCAA Tournament.
