Four-star Washington Huskies quarterback commit Blake Roskopf kicked off his senior season at Desert Edge with a bang.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Goodyear, Arizona native threw for a career-high 416 yards with 3 touchdowns and an interception on Thursday night to lead Desert Edge to a 20-0 season-opening victory over Cactus Shadow.
Roskopf's previous career-high was 370 yards against Canyon View as a junior, one of four 300-yard outings for the four-star commit. The No. 14-ranked quarterback and No. 4 recruit from Arizona in the 2027 class, per the 247Sports Composite, had one 300-yard game as a sophomore and none as a freshman.
Roughly a third of his passing yards, 142 to be exact, came on 7 catches from fellow Husky commit, three-star wide receiver
Zerek Sidney, more receiving yards than he had all of last season while battling an illness.

Roskopf completed 24-of-34 attempts (70.6 completion percentage)—his second-highest single game completion percentage of games when he threw 30-plus passes—against Cactus Shadow with three different receivers; juniors Jhaheem Brown, Hajj Brown and Byron Brandon each hauling in a touchdown pass from the star senior.
As a junior last fall Roskopf led Desert Edge to an 11-1 overall record and a 5A state quarterfinal appearance, losing 13-10 in a surprise upset to Desert Mountain High School. In each of his three seasons at Desert Edge, he's never lost a season-opener, with only four losses to his name since he's been the Arizona high school football program's starter dating back to his sophomore seson in 2024.
UW has made significant headway recruiting players from the Grand Canyon State, especially the Goodyear based high school with two commitments in the '27 cycle and potentially one of the premier edge rushers in the 2028 class, Jalanie George, headed to Montlake next year to play for Jedd Fisch and defensive coordinator Ryan Walters.
