Several former Washington Huskies didn't survive roster cutdowns ahead of the 2026 NFL season, but as teams build out their practice squads, a handful of UW alumni have inked deals across the league to remain in reserve.
Here's where they landed.
RB Salvon Ahmed- Chicago Bears

Over his first five years in the league, Ahmed has played in 38 games, all with the Miami Dolphins, and compiled 593 yards and 5 touchdowns, along with 40 catches for 274 yards and a score. Coach Ben Johnson is expected to lean heavily on D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai in the backfield, but could turn to Ahmed, who
averaged 6 yards per carry in the preseason, if either suffers an injury.
TE Devin Culp- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tight end Devin Culp, a former Bucs draft pick who was among Sunday's cuts, is signing back with Tampa on their practice squad. Bucs able to keep another key piece in the fold.

After Tampa Bay selected Culp in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL draft, he was waived following 18 appearances across two seasons, over which he tallied 6 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown, before returning to the organization.
FB/TE Jack Westover- Washington Commanders
Jack Westover knows how to play both TE spots and was one of few active veterans in the room

Westover had been a key piece of the New England Patriots' offense, while mainly being utilized at fullback. He has just 2 catches for a yard to his name over 20 career games played, and New England appeared interested in retaining his services on the practice squad. However, he opted to sign with the Commanders.
WR Omari Evans- Kansas City Chiefs
Among the other players named in the suit are Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Wesley Bissainthe and Chiefs wide receiver Omari Evans.

Evans, who was named in a temporary restraining order against the NCAA on August 27, allowing him to enter the transfer portal for a fifth season of eligibility, will most likely opt to stay at the professional level after inking a deal to remain in Kansas City.
DB Myles Bryant- Cleveland Browns
Browns announced they signed 10 players to the practice squad, all of whom were part of roster cuts:

Bryant has spent time with both the Patriots and Houston Texans, appearing in 77 games across six seasons in the NFL. Over that time, the 28-year-old has totaled 254 tackles, 17 pass breakups, 4 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
