As fall camp rolls on, the Washington Huskies offense is starting to find its groove.
During the various team periods that Jedd Fisch's team repped inside Husky Stadium, ambient crowd noise blared from the speakers as Washington worked on playing in hostile environments, but it didn't seem to have much of an impact on wide receivers Christian Moss and Rashid Williams.
After missing most of the spring with a hamstring injury, Moss continued to impress with a pair of long receptions. As he has seemingly cemented himself with Demond Williams Jr. and the first-team offense, his day included a sprawling 35-yard reception in front of the home bench and a 26-yard touchdown, where he beat freshman cornerback Elijah Durr on a go route and showed off his athleticism
with a leaping catch.
"I think he's really starting to hit his stride," receivers coach Kevin Cummings said on Wednesday. "The first couple days was him getting used to the offense and the calls, and all of our more difficult calls. Now that he's gotten all that down, now you're starting to see him really blossom and see the plays that we were talking about (from summer workouts)."
According to Williams, it was the best fall practice he's ever had. The senior pulled in three touchdowns during full team drills and a fourth during a 7-on-7 period, highlighted by a 24-yard score on what appeared to be a miscommunication in the secondary and a 45-yard touchdown in the 7-on-7 rep against cornerback Emmanuel Karnley, which the former four-star recruit seemed to get quite the kick out of.

"Me and Karnley played Little League together when we were 9 years old," Williams said of his battles with the Virginia transfer. "He's my locker mate too, so we talk mess and stuff, but it's friendly competition at the end of the day."

Fall camp notebook
- Kicker Grady Gross donned the No. 20 and returned to practice on Wednesday, taking advantage of the same injunction that allowed defensive lineman Ta'ita'i Uiagalelei to return to Washington's roster. After spending rookie minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs, Gross nailed a 41-yard field goal in his only attempt.
- Speaking of Uiagalelei, he took a few reps with the first-team defense on Wednesday and recorded a sack as Washington limits the workload of senior Elinneus Davis, who has dressed and gone through workouts with his position group, but hasn't participated in team drills in a few days.
- Sophomore receiver Dezmen Roebuck was absent from practice on Wednesday. "He'll be back; he's all good," Cummings said.
- Freshman receiver Jordan Clay was the most involved he's been over the course of camp as he continues to work his way back from an injury. "Jordan's making his way back and made a bunch of plays today," Cummings said. "I really do like the depth of the squad."
- Freshman outside linebacker Ramzak Fruean made an impressive hustle play to rip the ball away from receiver Chris Lawson, who had to run a lap for the fumble while Fruean celebrated with secondary coach John Richardson.
- Fruean's classmate, outside linebacker JD Hill, continues to put together disruptive pass rush reps and had multiple today during a team period reserved for young players as he continues to make his case for a spot in the rotation on the edge.
- The defense pulled in a pair of interceptions on the day, with Elias Johnson, who donned a gold no-contact jersey, taking advantage of a miscommunication between quarterback Elijah Brown and receiver Justice Williams. The other came from junior nickelback Rahshawn Clark, who made a quick break to step in front of a Demond Williams pass intended for Lawson in the end zone.
