After playing his way into the 2026 NFL draft, former Washington Huskies defensive lineman Anterio Thompson has yet to practice for the Atlanta Falcons.
On Saturday, the Falcons placed the 6-foot-2, 306-pound defensive tackle on the non-football injury list as rookies arrived on Friday for the start of training camp. Thompson was selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft by Atlanta after one season at UW last fall, which saw the ex-Iowa and Western Michigan transfer finish with 30 tackles, 2.5 for loss, and 1.5 sacks while appearing in all 13 games for the Huskies in 2025.
One of six draft picks for the NFC South organization, Thompson is the only selection the team made that hasn't seen the field due to his lingering injury, which also
kept him out of minicamp and the majority of the prior organized team activities this offseason.

Though Thompson will remain on the Falcons' 90-man roster, his chance to make the final roster diminishes with each day the former Husky isn't able to show head coach Kevin Stefanski and his staff what he could bring to a defensive line that needs new blood along the interior.
The non-football injury list is for injuries suffered away from the team facility, during off-season workouts or when players make the transition from college to the NFL.
Thompson didn't sustain an injury at UW that kept him off the field, and the same can be said for his prior season at Western Michigan in 2024 when he recorded a career-high 34 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a pair of pass breakups before he transferred to Washington for his final year of college eligibility.
