Washington Huskies cornerback Ramonz Adams Jr. has quietly risen early this season to be a versatile, emerging defensive back.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound second-year defender made a pair of tackles in the Huskies' 27-24 loss to Minnesota last Saturday. Adams Jr. proved best as a nickel cornerback when UW defensive coordinator Ryan Walters moved first-year Jeron Jones outside with veteran Virginia transfer Emmanuel Karnley out due to injury.
"I thought Ramonz did a good job coming in in the slot and adjusting to what we were sort of adjusting to at halftime without having played in that first half," Walters said on Tuesday. "He looks more comfortable in the slot, for sure."

Snaps could be limited for Adams—who hasn't been listed on any of UW's depth charts this season—moving forward, with Jones and third-year Rahshawn Clark also available.
However, Adams should have several opportunities moving forward to assert himself in the defensive backfield for the Huskies. Whether or not that continues through the rest of the regular season will be up to the Lone Star State native to continue to earn his snaps and, as Walters often says, pay rent with production.
As a freshman last season, Adams Jr. made four appearances, three of which came in the final two months of the season against Purdue, at UCLA, and against Boise State in the Bucked Up LA Bowl, all of which the Huskies won by double digits and held opposing offenses to 14 points or less.
He made his debut this season in UW's 48-16 Week Three win over Eastern Washington but did not record a tackle.
