After Michael Penix Jr. was forced to leave the Atlanta Falcons' 30-23 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night with a rib injury, it doesn't appear that it will be an issue for the former Washington Huskies star quarterback moving forward.
According to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Penix is set to practice on Wednesday after he was forced to watch from the sideline as veteran Tua Tagovailoa took over for him in the loss and threw an interception on the second play of Atlanta's overtime drive to end the game. Had the Falcons gotten the ball first, Penix stated that he might've been able to return to the contest.
"I did not feel like I was going to be able to give our team what we needed to be able to win that football
game because of the pain that I was feeling," he told Falcons team reporter Tori McElhaney. "I was trying my best, but I knew I wasn't where I needed to be for us to go win a football game in that moment...I hated that I couldn't get back in that game."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Atlanta isn't concerned about the injury, and after missing the back half of the 2025 season along with the first two games of the 2026 campaign, Penix doesn't sound too concerned either.
"Knowing me, I am going to be ready to go next week because I've sat out enough in my career," he added. "I am going to do everything I can in the training room to make sure I get back to where I want to be."
Penix and the Falcons are set to face off with his former top target, wide receiver Rome Odunze, and the Chicago Bears at home on Sunday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. PT.
