Following a 16-14 win over Utah State that took every second for the Washington Huskies, Jedd Fisch's team has dropped all the way out of the AP Top 25.
Washington came into the season ranked as the No. 17 team in college football, but between a messy 24-10 victory over Washington State in the Apple Cup and a Week Two win that was full of missed opportunities, the Huskies' struggles on offense haven't made the team look like one that doesn't deserve to be ranked.
However, the Huskies found themselves as the top team in the "others receiving votes" category with 172 points, just ten behind the No. 25 Virginia Cavaliers. Following a major shakeup in the Big Ten as Ohio State and Oregon both suffered losses, Washington found itself as the de facto
No. 8 team in the conference.

Fisch's team came in behind No. 4 Indiana, the No. 6 Buckeyes, No. 12 USC, No. 14 Penn State, No. 18 Iowa, No. 19 Michigan, and the No. 21 Ducks. Moving forward, the Huskies have a defense that looks like it can be one of the nation's best units, meaning it will be on the offense to figure out how to execute.
“That’s two weeks in a row that we’re sitting out here to learn a lot, and I think we will,” Fisch said after the win over Utah State. “But there’s also things that we just need to execute better.”
With several dropped touchdowns and struggles along the offensive line, there are a lot of execution issues the Huskies have to figure out if they want to climb back into the top 25.
