Following a breakout performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jonah Coleman's rookie season has come to a halt with the Denver Broncos.
On Saturday afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the former Washington Huskies star running back will be placed on Denver's short-term injured reserve with a high ankle sprain that he suffered during the team's Week Two win over the Jaguars.
While Coleman was listed as a non-participant in practice for the entirety of the week leading up to the Broncos' matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, he was spotted during the portion of practice open to the media, and his absence isn't expected to last longer than the minimum four games; the plan is for him to return on Sunday, October 25 against the Arizona
Cardinals.

During the win over the Jaguars, Coleman took ten carries for 39 yards, including the game-winning touchdown, and added 3 catches for 19 yards after taking over for J.K. Dobbins, who left the game with a hamstring injury, while R.J. Harvey missed the game with a hamstring injury of his own.
In his stead, the tandem is expected to be good to go for coach Sean Payton's backfield after Coleman displayed his advanced football IQ on Denver's final drive, sliding down in bounds after picking up a first down to bleed the clock down.
"We work on four-minute (situations), but that certainly didn't feel like a rookie series, if you will," Payton said on Sunday of Coleman's play to put the game away. "He came up big, and we needed it...His play right at the end, staying in bounds, that was something you cover, but maybe he doesn't get those same reps in practice. He did a good job."
