In his first season with the Los Angeles Rams, former Washington Huskies star Trent McDuffie has asserted himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.
Through the first four games of the year, McDuffie has posted 13 tackles, 1 for loss, and an interception, while his 7 pass breakups are the most in the league, and he's posted those numbers while having to cover some of the NFL's best wide receivers, including Philadelphia Eagles standout Devonta Smith, Malik Nabers of the New York Giants, and perennial All-Pro Mike Evans of the San Francisco 49ers.
McDuffie's strong start has also impressed his teammates, as star wide receiver Davante Adams had plenty of praise for the 26-year-old two-time All-Pro in an interview with Amon-Ra and Equanimeous
St. Brown on the St. Brown Podcast.
"Trent McDuffie, I can honestly say to you I can't remember the last time I felt this way about a corner," the three-time All-Pro said.
"Trent is the real deal because he's always there. He's putting them by the pin every time. If I had to pick a DB to go and cover whoever your favorite receiver is, if it's Amon-Ra, if it's whoever, if my life is on the line, I'm gonna pick Trent to go and cover whoever that receiver is because what I've seen from him, I really respect his game a lot."
Next up for McDuffie and the Rams is a battle with superstar quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, where the former UW standout will likely find himself matched up with former first-round pick D.J. Moore, if Allen's top receiver is able to suit up after a shoulder injury has sidelined him at practice.
