The Washington Commanders fell to the Dallas Cowboys 37-20 in Week 2 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday.
The Commanders did a lot of things well in the loss, but they also did a lot of things poorly, and the officials made some really bad calls and no-calls. Winning a game in the NFL is hard enough, but when the refs take away obvious touchdowns, it absolutely impacts the game. On top of the injury to Jayden Daniels, that was a major difference-maker in this game.
With everything that happened, picking one standout player from this outing wasn’t easy. However, Commanders wide receiver Stefon Diggs remained a reliable target throughout the game, earning him Player of the Game honors from CommandersWire.
Diggs recorded five catches on
six targets for 47 yards and two touchdowns. He didn’t rack up a ton of yards, but he caught the passes thrown his way, unlike Terry McLaurin, who dropped more passes that hit his hands than we’ve probably ever seen. McLaurin caught just two passes on nine targets on Sunday. Diggs, meanwhile, found ways to get open, catch the ball, and score points.
The Commanders may have had a different outcome if Daniels hadn’t been injured. They also lost Brandon Coleman, Javon Kinlaw, and Sam Cosmi to various injuries. It was a tough game from start to finish. Now, knowing what they’re facing, the Commanders have to come together and find a way to be ready to host the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in their Week 3 home opener.
