Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss Sunday’s Week 3 home opener against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Dan Quinn said on Monday.
Daniels, who dislocated his left non-throwing elbow just before halftime in Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, underwent imaging on Monday and will consult with multiple specialists over the next few days to determine his next move.
Daniels, who dislocated the same elbow in November of last year, returned and reaggravated it four weeks later, and was shut down for the final four games. In total, Daniels missed 10 games during the 2025 season due to various injuries.
Daniels, who opted against surgery last November, could choose to rehab the injury and return in several weeks with a brace. If
he chooses surgery, he could miss several months, if not the remainder of the 2026 season.
For now, Mariota will start Sunday’s game, and Washington will seek input from Daniels and the multiple specialists before determining a timeline for his return. Daniels was playing well before his injury and had the Commanders in position to tie the game before halftime. He looked more comfortable in Sunday’s game than he did all last season, and fans were encouraged about this season.
