“When they last met” is an ongoing series during the NFL season that recalls the previous game between Washington and the Commanders’ next opponent.

Washington raced to a 15-point lead and defeated NFC East rival New York Giants 29-21 Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Kicker Jake Moody kicked three first-half field goals from 46, 39 and 42 yards, the last a walk-off field goal ending the first half, which provided Washington a 22-7 lead. Jacory Croskey-Merritt scored on a 16-yard run up the middle, extending the Commanders’ lead to 10-0 early in the second quarter.

With 1:20 left in the first half and the Giants
punting from their own 15-yard line, Washington’s Jaylin Lane caught a punt at his own 37. Lane took two steps to his right, saw an open lane to his left, suddenly changed directions and was gone for a 63-yard punt return touchdown. Lane’s touchdown was his second of the season; he also returned a punt for a score against the Raiders in a Week 3 home win.
With under 30 seconds remaining, Commanders cornerback Mike Sainristil intercepted a Jaxson Dart pass at the Commanders' 21, broke one tackle, and returned it to the Giants' 24-yard line. It set up Moody’s walk-off field goal to close the half.
