Despite offseason changes to the roster and coaching staff, the Washington Commanders have faced nothing but questions in 2026. Adam Peters spent much of the offseason focused on the defense, but he didn’t neglect the offense either. It didn’t happen until training camp, but signing veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs gave the offense a huge boost.
A recent Bleacher Report article named one reason each NFL team should have hope in 2026, and Diggs was the Commanders’ topic of conversation.
Jayden Daniels must love that the Commanders signed Stefon Diggs, who believes there is no better No. 2 receiver in the NFL, to complement Terry McLaurin and bolster a passing attack that ranked 24th in total yards last season.
The Commanders’ ranking in passing
yards last season has more to do with the injuries to Jayden Daniels and less to do with anything else, but having Diggs as a weapon along with Terry McLaurin, that makes this offense much more difficult to defend. Throw in rookie Antonio Williams and tight end Chig Okonkwo, and you’ve got yourself a pretty dynamic unit.
If you’ve been paying attention, there are actually several reasons to be hopeful for a successful season for the Commanders. Diggs is the most recent addition to generate excitement and hope, though, and his signing is one of the most impactful for this team. Now they have to use the pieces they have appropriately and protect Daniels. If they can do that, this team will be hard to stop in 2026.
