Washington Commanders cornerback Trey Amos has a chance to play in his first game of the season this Sunday against the New York Giants in a crucial NFC East showdown. Amos spent the first four games of the season on injured reserve before the Commanders opened his 21-day practice window on Wednesday.
“I feel great. I feel great,” Amos said. “Taking it day by day. Really just trying to get back with the team, get the flow of things.”
Amos suffered a fractured fibula during his rookie year against the Detroit Lions in Week 10 of last season, which ended his season. He returned during training camp but suffered an ankle injury that sent him to injured reserve to start the year. This Sunday's game is the first game he would have been eligible to play.
Amos described his process as he works to return to the field.
“I feel like it’s just me being confident, knowing the call, and just keep on steady, getting better until the end of the week and trying to see where I’m at and hopefully play,” Amos said. “So, doing the best I can for the team and just for myself to just get ready, get my body ready.”
Amos’ first NFL game was against the Giants in the season opener last season, where he had two tackles and a pass breakup. He is currently listed as questionable on the injury report after being limited in practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
