The Washington Commanders host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football in Week 8 at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.
The Commanders are coming off their bye week to face a division rival for the second time this season. The Eagles and Commanders opened the season with a divisional matchup that saw the Eagles win 24-22.
This time, the matchup will be very different. The Eagles lost Jalen Hurts for the season and have important skill players either on injured reserve or battling injuries every week. Needless to say, when it came to deciding who to pick for this week’s edition of Gimme Him, options were limited.
Limited doesn’t mean impossible, though, and the Commanders have a few areas where the Eagles' roster can help. One of those
is at cornerback, which is why we landed on Quinyon Mitchell.
The Commanders recently got Trey Amos back into the starting lineup after recovering from a brutal leg injury in 2025, followed by a setback during training camp. He lines up next to Amik Robertson and Rasul Douglas, but if we steal Mitchell, Douglas goes to the bench and provides excellent depth at the position. Amos and Mitchell would line up on the outside, leaving Robertson to handle the slot.
Through seven games, Mitchell has 35 tackles (27 solo), eight passes defensed, one stuff, and one interception. For the Commanders, Robertson leads the entire secondary through six games with 40 tackles (28 solo), eight passes defensed, and one forced fumble. That might be different if Amos had more than one game under his belt, but adding Mitchell to this secondary makes it a huge threat for any opponent.
This Week 8 matchup will be an interesting one between these two teams. The Commanders can’t actually steal Quinyon Mitchell, but without many of their top players on offense, the Eagles will have a hard time moving the ball no matter who the Commanders put on the field.
