The Washington Commanders held a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday ahead of the two teams' matchup in Week 1 of the 2026 preseason.
After practice concluded, tight end Colson Yankoff spoke with Denton Day of 106.7 The Fan and answered a few questions about how the day went, and the offense's comfort level with the new scheme under David Blough. Yankoff has been one of the stars of camp for the Commanders.

Yankoff and Day exchange a few questions and answers, first talking about how it's nice to go up against a defense that doesn't necessarily know what you're going to do and see how they play
it. He talked about having good days and bad days, so trying to stack the good days is the goal. Real game action is different than practice, but Yankoff says that's the next thing, and this team is fired up.
After that exchange, Day says that previously they had talked about the new offensive scheme and wondered how comfortable everyone is now.
"Yeah, a lot," Yankoff said. "OTAs were awesome with just everyone buying in on learning everything, and so I think this camp has been a really cool opportunity to just go out and compete. We know our stuff and just get a feel for it early on, and now we can just fly off the ball and really work on our technique. It's been fun."
Having everyone buy in to the new scheme and make an effort to learn it goes a long way toward perfecting it and running plays efficiently. If Yankoff's assessment is correct, this offense is going to be much more explosive and exciting to watch during the 2026 season. He could also have a significant role in Washington's tight-end-friendly offense.
