The Washington Commanders are on a much-needed bye this week after dropping their fifth game of the season to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 6. Their record now stands at 1-4-1, but that doesn't mean that their season is over. There’s still plenty of football left to play in 2026, and several players on the roster have fantasy football value.
In fact, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler’s best fantasy advice is to pick up a Commanders tight end this week.
Snag Washington tight end Chig Okonkwo off waivers. The Terry McLaurin injury enhances Okonkwo's value. Okonkwo and Jayden Daniels seem to have easy chemistry, resulting in 11 catches for 129 yards over the past two weeks. Okonkwo caught all seven of his targets Monday in San Francisco.
He's still looking for his first touchdown this season, but that's a matter of time based on the way he's playing.
Every time Chig Okonkwo has been on the field with Jayden Daniels this season, they’ve been able to make things happen. Okonkwo got off to a slow start after suffering an injury in Week 1 and missing two games. In four games, Okonkwo has 15 receptions on 20 targets for 150 yards, averaging 10 yards per reception. He hasn’t found the end zone yet, but as Fowler said, he will.
It’s hard to find many positive things about the Commanders right now, but Okonkwo is definitely making a positive impact on the offense. If he’s available in your fantasy league, go get him. Especially now that Terry McLaurin is out, Daniels will rely even more on Okonkwo.
