In his weekly appearance on the “Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan, Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters revealed that wide receiver Dyami Brown suffered an injury in Thursday’s practice and that it “doesn’t look great.”
Peters saying it didn’t look great likely means it’s for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. He didn’t say whether he thought it would be a multi-week injury, but Brown was added to Thursday's injury report with a calf injury.
This would be the second consecutive week Washington has lost a player to injury in practice. Last week, defensive tackle Daron Payne fractured his foot in Friday’s practice.
Brown, 27, was Washington’s third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Commanders, he signed
a one-year, $10 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025, but he returned to Washington on a one-year deal in 2026. He’s appeared in every game for the Commanders this season, catching nine passes for 94 yards. Brown is an integral part of Washington’s receiving corps because he’s another deep option for quarterback Jayden Daniels and the team’s top blocking wide receiver.
Brown’s injury is the latest for the Commanders’ wide receivers. In Week 4, Jaylin Lane, also Washington’s primary punt/kick returner, dislocated and fractured his ankle and was lost for the season. In Week 6, Terry McLaurin suffered a torn patellar tendon, ending his season. The Commanders elevated veteran Van Jefferson from the practice squad to replace McLaurin and could look to the trade market ahead of next week’s deadline to add more help. Washington has been linked to Colts receiver Josh Downs and Jaguars wideout Brian Thomas Jr., although both moves seem unlikely.
In some good news, Peters said wide receiver Treylon Burks is more “day-to-day” and is getting closer after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday.
