When Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was injured late in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys
, everyone held their breath. On the final play of the half, the Commanders were on the three-yard line and trying to tie the game before halftime. Daniels took the snap, but left guard Chris Paul stepped on him, causing him to trip and be slammed to the ground by a Dallas defender. The result was a dislocated elbow, the same injury he suffered last November. A suddenly competitive game felt much different.
After the game, Washington head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow, his non-throwing arm, but X-rays were negative for fractures. Further testing on Monday will determine his return
timeline.
Players and coaches hate seeing any player injured. After the game, Dallas players and coaches were concerned about Daniels, including Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
“Before I get started, I just want to say to Jayden Daniels, what a great competitor, man,” Schottenheimer said in his postgame press conference. "And I know he’ll make a great recovery, but what a great player, and you hate to see that in our game.”

That’s a classy move by Schottenheimer. Players get injured in every game, and the past 12 months have been difficult for Daniels. For him to take time out of his postgame presser to acknowledge Daniels shows why the NFL is truly a brotherhood despite the intense competition on the field every weekend.
