The Washington Commanders host the New York Giants at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, at 1:00 p.m. EDT this Sunday in their third divisional game of the season.
After getting their first win of the season over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3, the Commanders couldn’t overcome the officials in Week 4 and lost to the Indianapolis Colts in London, England. It was a game that didn’t just see the Commanders have to overcome the refs; it also saw them lose Jaylin Lane for the season, Marcus Mariota for a few weeks with an MCL sprain, and a few others sustain minor injuries.
On top of this, the Commanders have a rigorous schedule this year and have their third divisional game in five weeks this Sunday. The good news is that they should get Jayden
Daniels back on the field, which is what makes this edition of Gimme Him kind of fun. For Week 5, the Commanders would absolutely love to steal Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers.
Nabers and Daniels were both drafted in 2024, and both played for LSU in college, spending two years together after Daniels transferred in from Arizona State. During their final season together, LSU averaged 45.5 points per game (first in the nation) while allowing just 28 points defensively, and Daniels won the Heisman Trophy. The two remain close friends.
Imagine putting a young superstar wide receiver back with his elite college quarterback within a few years of them both leaving the school. They already have a connection that would be easy to rebuild, and with Stefon Diggs and Terry McLaurin on the wrong side of the age gap, Nabers gives Daniels a young, dynamic receiver to target down the field. They made plenty of incredible plays at LSU, and while the level of competition is much higher in the NFL, you can believe they'd come out with some amazing plays just to prove a point.
It’s too bad the NFL doesn’t allow this kind of exchange. Watching Daniels and Nabers on the same team at this level would be incredibly entertaining. Instead, they’ll be on opposite sides when the whistle blows on Sunday.
