The Washington Commanders' offense hit a roadblock over the weekend. They were already dealing with offensive line injuries, including Nick Allegretti's calf strain, when they learned that Laremy Tunsil would be out for the season with a torn triceps muscle that requires surgery.
Brandon Coleman has stepped into Tunsil's place, which is a position he's played in the past, but it's hard to replace one of the league's best blind side blockers. First Take's Kevin Clark has thoughts about the injury and what it means for the Commanders' offense.

"I just look at this offense, and I see Jayden Daniels having to go into Superman mode," Clark says. "And if you're saying there are injuries on the offensive line, I talked with Jayden Daniels on Saturday, and I said, 'Who is the most underrated guy on this team?' And he said, 'It's a unit. It's the offensive line.' And he talked about Laremy Tunsil, and he waxed poetic about how important Laremy Tunsil is, his place in this league, all of that stuff, and then a couple hours later we found out he might be out for the season.
"This is massive. It cannot be overstated, and it's the kind of thing, frankly, I felt the Commanders were going to be sneaky good this year. In that division, where basically everybody has a case to be maybe at least okay when you consider the Giants. This puts them closer to the Giants than it does the Eagles and the Cowboys."
With two injured starters, one out for the season, the Commanders' offensive line already has a new look, and the season hasn't even started yet. David Blough's offensive scheme is supposed to see Jayden Daniels spend more time in the pocket and less time using his legs, but the injury to Tunsil alone is problematic.
Brandon Coleman is capable of doing a decent job, and since this is his third season in the NFL, he's likely to be better than he was in 2024, when he was a rookie. That bodes well, but he's still not the same caliber of player as Tunsil. And if Nick Allegretti isn't ready to go when the regular season starts, the line will have a whole new problem on its hands.
