After an injury-riddled season last year, Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels finally began looking like himself in the second half of the Commanders’ season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles after making about half of the Eagles’ defenders miss on a critical fourth-quarter run.

Daniels’ scramble ultimately led to a 15-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Stefon Diggs. After making the extra point instead of opting for the two-point conversion, Washington was down by only one point with 10 minutes to go in the game.

Daniels would lead another late scoring drive with a touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Antonio

Williams. Washington’s two-point attempt came up short, though, falling 24-22 to the Eagles.

Daniels finished the day by completing 18 of 34 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 31 yards on five attempts. Williams led the Commanders in receiving yards with four receptions for 64 yards, with a long of 33 yards, and a touchdown.
