“When they last met” is an ongoing series during the NFL season, recalling the preceding game between Washington and the next opponent on the Commanders’ schedule.
Seattle 38, Washington 14: Week 19, Nov. 2, 2025
This was a night the Commanders were completely owned by the Seahawks, being manhandled 38-14 on NBC’s Sunday Night Football at Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD.
How lopsided was this game? Well, the Seahawks possessed the ball five times in the first half and scored five times. Seattle not only scored, but also went up and down the field freely, scoring four consecutive touchdowns before settling for a field goal to close out the half with a 31-7 lead.
Seattle fans will mostly remember the game that quarterback Sam Darnold enjoyed. He sliced up the Washington secondary all night long.
Time and time again, Darnold found open receivers, finishing his night by completing 21 of 24 passes for 330 yards and four touchdown passes. Darnold earned a passer rating of 141.0, and the fact that Darnold accumulated 330 passing yards in only 24 attempts meant Darnold averaged an astonishing 13.75 yards per pass attempt. It was truly a horrible performance by the Commanders' defense.
Incidentally, the defense was again horrible the next week in a 44-22 loss to the Lions. The following day, it was announced that defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. was no longer going to be in charge of the defense, having been relieved by head coach Dan Quinn.

The Seattle game, however, will be most remembered by Commanders fans for quarterback Jayden Daniels’ elbow injury. Washington trailed 38-7 with under eight minutes remaining and faced a second-and-goal from the 2. Daniels took the snap, rolled right, and tried to run, but Drake Thomas sacked him from behind. As Daniels fell to the turf, his left elbow visibly dislocated when his left hand hit the ground.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the Seahawks with eight receptions for 129 receiving yards, while Tory Horton collected four receptions for 48 yards, including two touchdowns. Daniels finished the night completing 16 of 22 passes for 153 yards. However, he was sacked four times and intercepted once for a passer rating of 72.7.
