The Washington Commanders opened training camp on Wednesday with non-contact drills and walkthroughs to get the players acclimated to the upcoming schedule.
Thursday marks Day 2 of the acclimation period, and there's a developing story we'll be watching ahead of the team's first practice in pads on Saturday. The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala is reporting a couple of injuries worth noting.
Dan Quinn said C Nick Allegretti is dealing with a calf strain and WR Treylon Brooks is dealing with foot soreness. Doesn’t expect either to be long-term issues.

After playing five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Nick Allegretti has spent the last two seasons playing left guard and right guard, moving to center for the final two games of the 2025 season when
Tyler Biadasz went down with knee and ankle injuries. Biadasz has since been released, and Allegretti is poised to start at center in 2026, with sixth-round draft pick Matt Gublin and Julian Good-Jones backing him up for now.
Treylon Burks has foot soreness that will be monitored to prevent it from getting worse, but this shouldn't be a long-term problem. Burks is entering his second year with the Commanders after spending his first three seasons with the Tennessee Titans. His tenure with the Titans was marred by injuries, though, so this is worth keeping an eye on. Burks is competing with rookie Antonio Williams and Dyami Brown to be Washington's No. 2 receiver.
Allegretti is the one the Commanders most need to stay healthy. A calf strain isn't something to take lightly, especially with all of the torn Achilles tendons we've seen over the last few years. The Commanders will proceed with caution to ensure Allegretti is healthy and ready to go for Week 1.
