The Washington Commanders have a difficult task on Sunday. The Commanders are back on the road for the second consecutive week facing an NFC East foe; this time, it’s the Dallas Cowboys. Like Washington, Dallas is coming off a disappointing Week 1 loss. Both teams need a win.
Stopping Dallas means keeping quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens in check. That’s much easier said than done, especially considering Washington’s questions at cornerback.
With Trey Amos out at least through Week 4, the Commanders made a move at cornerback ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. Washington signed veteran cornerback Isaac Yiadom from the practice squad. The Commanders initially signed Yiadom to the practice squad on Sept.
1 after the New Orleans Saints released him.
Yiadom, 30, first entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s spent time with the Broncos, Giants, Packers, Texans, Saints (two stints) and 49ers. Yiadom has appeared in 118 NFL games with 34 starts. He has 230 career tackles, 32 passes defensed and three interceptions.
To make room for Yiadom, the Commanders released second-year defensive tackle Ricky Barber Jr. A 2025 undrafted free agent, Barber appeared in two games as a rookie last season. He did not play in Washington’s Week 1 loss to Philadelphia. If Barber clears waivers, the Commanders will likely re-sign him to the practice squad.
